Just taken delivery of my 2013 FL2 Dynamic SD4 and on looking under the floor cover in the boot I can see a tyre inflation kit (which I was expecting) but there's no jack or wheel brace, is that right? Numpty question but can you inflate a flat tyre with the full weight of the car on it unjacked?
 
You're best bet is to replace the tyre repair crap with a proper tyre and jack.

The Freelander is a heavy vehicle, which will destroy a tyre in seconds, making that spray stuff useless.

My FL2 has a full sized spare and jack.
 
Yes, you can inflate a flat tyre without jacking the vehicle. Also, I had to get a new trolley jack when I got the Freelander 1 as my old one didn't have a high enough lift to get the bottom of the tyres off the ground! You may need to keep an eye out for that when sourcing a jack.

Tyre inflation/repair kits supplied with new cars will work approx 50% of the time so approx 50% of the time you will be stranded. :eek:
Possibly a made up fact but my experience of them personally and in our company cars bares this out. I had insisted on getting a spare when I got my car and had to rescue my colleagues several times.
Last time I was at a tyre depot a lorry pulled up with a car on top because it had a puncture!
And the tyre depot guys said this happens regularly.

Been there, done that. The tyre inflation goop in a can doesn't work, if the side wall has a cut in it.:oops:

The car (wife's Astra GTC) went to Quikfit on the back of an RAC truck, simply because there was a cut in the side wall.:eek:
Obviously having a spare in the boot would have saved 5 hours of our weekend. :mad:
So I now make sure the vehicle has a spare wheel, even if I have to buy one. The tyres goop goes in the bin. :)

LOL, believe it or not I have bought Goop several times. It's great for wheel barrow tyres, bike tyres or if you have an old tyre with a slow puncture.

Poundland tyre goop is fine for small tyres like wheelbarrows, bikes and sack trucks, as those all have inner tubes, which only ever pin hole.

Car tyres with a cut is well beyond the goops abilities.
 
Thanks all, confirmed what I thought really. Only had to use the goop inflator once on a previois car, it didnt work and resulted in expensive AA call out, never again! Anyone know of a good source for spare wheels and jacks/braces? Also I assume I can fit a full size spare in the boot floor as my previous 08 FL2 had one...unless the facelift model has a shallower floor? Have 19" wheels on currently

I had a compressed and goop as standard equipment on an X5 ffs.

I'd find the missing jack, wheel brace and holder on Ebay I'd also get a matching wheel on Ebay too. You shouldn't have much trouble finding what you need on there, and it shouldn't cost too much.
The boot space will take a full size wheel, but there is a slightly smaller space saver option, which my FL2 actually came with, but I couldn't see the point in those, so I found a matching full size wheel for mine.

You could jack it up and take one of your wheels off and try it :D

You might need to look out for the tyre change tool pack and wheel separately, as very few new owners will opt for the full size matching spare, normally choosing the cheapest spare available, which was the black steel wheel, with 50MPH stickers on it.
