Advice Needed...2001 TD5 Won't Start

Morning Wireman, just tried this morning. The fuel pump is running (when relay bypassed) and the engine is cranking well but not a hint of a start....still no yellow lights on the dash.
 
Still no joy...my Nanocom can't communicate with the ECU.

I can access the AS10, and have confirmed (I think) that the plip is working and that the immobiliser is disabled. It does show 'TD5 learnt' as No, and the immobiliser option as spider (which I don't think is right for a TD5?) I'm loathe to play with the settings unless I know they're wrong?
 
In the menus there is an ECU status, this will tell you if it is immobilized or healthy,
Communication with the ECU is only fully operational when the ignition is switched on, sorry if you already know that but it had me ad first.
 
Thanks...the Nanocom says it can't communicate with the ECU whatever the key position (I've tried all except 3). It won't load anything in the 'TD5 Engine' or the 'TD5 instruments' menus.

Is the ECU status accessible if I can't establish communication with the ECU? I.e. can I get at it through the AS10 menus on the Nanocom?

But I could only get there with the ignition on,

Hi, thank you. I've tried to go into the settings menu, but it tells me that it's unable to start communications with the ECU and then 'no data available'... I can see the fields in your photo, but they're ank (all with the ignition on).

This may be a long shot, but have you physically replaced the fuses (ECU one especially)? It's not impossible for them to test OK but still be knackered, especially those ones with LED's in. Sounds like the ECU isn't fully powered. Maybe SierraFery will come along with a more comprehensive answer before long.
 
Hi Raywin, thanks for asking. I reached the point where I just couldn't find any other fault and bit the bullet!
I paid my money and the ECU off to ecutesting.com. It tested faulty and came back from them this week. Now starts and runs like a dream...I'm very pleased.

It turned out that my 2001 TD5 has a NNN500020 ECU (which I presume isn't original?)

(And very pleased with the service from ECU Testing, too)

So glad I've got a an old fashioned 300tdi.
