hi there I have just bought a series III with a spare wheel on the front. I would like to swap the bolts over for security bolts but cant find any M12 long enough. Has anyone got any other inexpensive options for ensuring the spare doesn't disappear in the night..
Many thanks!

Mine do not run right through the bonnet. But my wheel carrier has an extra post attached for a padlock to hold the wheel on. The post at about 11 oclock in attached parts list

Them there wheels are bloody heavy, not likely to be pinched. I got fed up of carting mine about, it made the bonnet too heavy and it took up too much room in the back so it's leaning against the fence on my drive. Been there about three years, my missus wishes someone would pinch it.

I do no think they are m12. I would have to dig out what I ordered to find the size but I had a special order from a local supplier when I needed longer ones after upgrading to wolf wheels. Mine is the same as @Blackburn has linked and I use the hasp with a padlock rather than locking the bolts. Some bonnets do have holes cut for the bolts to come through in which case and R clip through the end of the bolt will be an additional security measure on top of a padlock through the post but that is only of benefit if the bonnet also has a hasp and staple or some form of lock, otherwise you can just open the bonnet to remove the r clip.

Threaded bar with a hole drilled through for a.padlock,a hacksaw and 4 nuts, maybe a handful of washers,
Stainless is best.

Bolts are 1/2" BSF My hold down arrangement is a flat alloy plate about 15mm thick [discovery 1 wheel ] so what I ordered where as below from Namrick ltd mind that was in 2012.
They are still trading

Shopping Basket (Prices in British Pounds)

ive hot a iece of copper pipe on mine coz they are too long and ive never got round to shortening them

1/2inch BSF but 3 1/2inch long :(

Is there enough thread to put a lock nut and do it up tight? I modded mine (as above) with one long stud through the bonnet and a pin on the inside, bonnet has padlock (fitted by PO).

THe 31/2" bolts on mine do not go through the bonnet just hold my clamp plate down.
Do not have a pic of bonnet set up but use the same plate when I carry my spare wheel in the rear for off roading so I can see front nearside corner better.

It depends. I just sold 4 LWB wheels with old BFG A/Ts for £45 the set, but the replacment Wolfs (OEM 2nd hand) cost £40 each without tyres and the tyres came in a £105 so the spare cost me close on £150.

They're certainly heavy! I got them as I was planning for a Zues disc conversion and it wont fit with std wheels, also I wanted to go tubeless and 235/85. I like them, 235/85 tyres sit better, but I've got the brakes working so well now I probably won't get the discs. Spent weeks searchng e-bay, prices seemed silly - hence the lock, and now locking wheel nuts too. Don't tell me these won't go walkabout....
