V8 d2 oil separator catch can

hiya
I've been through the engine today, new coils, sparkplugs & leads, exhaust manifold gaskets, rocker cover gasket, intake gasket.
But, when I pulled the oil catch can (that's what I think its called) from the rocker cover to replace the oil separator, I managed to deform it and it won't go back in. I can find the oil separators themselves, hoses etc, but not the can itself. Am I searching for the wrong thing, or is there an upgrade/universal alternative? The limited reading I've done seems to suggest it's quite important?

IMHO... Since you already have that black oil separator removed from the tube... bin it.

Also... remove the black plastic barb fitting at the rear of the intake manifold and bin it.
Try and find any of these part numbers for the alternate correct metal PCV… #V288, FRAM #FV308, NAPA #CRB29380, Sankei #KP111, Purolator #PV1027, or Beck Arnley #045-0264.
Install the metal PCV in the same hole you removed the black barb fitting.
Reinstall hose and tighten both clamps.
Every oil change I remove the hose at the metal PCV and spray brake cleaner through it to clean it out.

Thanks Juke, I've got an oil separator and might be able to fettle the sleeve back into shape.
But do you think your option is better?
 
The black oil separator tends to get blocked up after time (as noted in the 3rd picture) and doesn't allow for proper vapor ventilation. This can blow out the rear engine seal from over pressurization.
The metal PCV allows for better vapor ventilation and easier to remove and clean out.
I installed the metal PCV 3 years ago and haven't had any problems,
 
Thanks for your help juke. I went with the original part in the end.
But your advice is noted for next time.
It has its 1st mot in 3 years on Wednesday, so not quite land rovering on yet.
Fingers crossed though
