Go on then, tell me about Rev counters

hi all

Fitted new alternator a couple of weeks ago to replace a dodgy new one fitted at Christmas then today while driving the Rev counter started jumping up and down like a stroppy teenager

Do we think this is coincidence or related, where’s best to start checking and how please

Dodgy connections methinks.

If its a 300, spray wd40 or similar in the back of the alternator, although it shouldnt need it if its new.

To be honest I haven’t looked at all yet so might be obvious and simple, just wondered about common problems

I had a prob with the rev counter on my 300tdi and it WAS just a dodgy connection to the alternator. Think i removed it and a bit of the wire and made up a new one. Twas an easy fix.

I think I have a spare Rev counter somewhere if I need it but the big lightbulb in the sky is set too high for me today to be bothered to even start with it ha
