Hi All,

I have finally thrown the hammer, crowbar, jack and socket set down and I am holding up the white flag and asking for help.

About 3 weeks ago my drivers side front wheel started to catch whilst I was in reverse on the inside wing. This confused me slightly but I thought it may have been knocked or the wing had bent slightly whilst sat on. 3 Days ago, whilst someone else was driving through the yard towards me in it, I noticed a gap had formed between the top of the leaf spring and the bottom of the bracket on the axle. No problem I thought, I will just tighten the u-bolt nuts accordingly until it is flush with the axle. On closer inspection the center pin is about 10mm back (towards rear of landy) from the locating hole and even with the nuts of the u-bolt slackened I cant seem move the center pin forward and into the locating hole. Anyone have any tips?

Cheers!
J

Have to loosen other side spring u bolts to allow axle to move.
The real quaestion is, what caused it to move in the first place?

If the dowel through the leaf spring is back from the axle bracket by 10mm surely you need to move the axle back to align.(leaf spring held by chassis) Unless the u bolts were loose to allow it to move and they would have be well loose to allow this it may have been like this since someone last played with it. The sudden rubbing may be due to worn bushes on the leaf spring ends or even a bracket bent or corroded I would think.

With landrover jacked up on chassis so wheel just in contact with the ground loosen u bolt and rotate wheel forward to assist the axle back into corret place.

This one, Support the chassis on stands, loosen the u-bolts both sides and then a combination of rolling the wheel and ratchet straps around the axle to something secure to pull the axle back into the correct position. Then tighten the ubolts back down. As mentioned above the real question is what has caused it to move in the first place.
