I guess in the present climate of limited custom then selection/stock needs evaluating,
Our local has cut down on the menu this year.

The last owners of the bar which is called Javali (wild boar) did Javali burgers/chilli and small snacks like humuss or crab pate but inherited a partner who ran up debts...the new guys are young first thing new pool table large screen tv same as every other bar in the village...as for food his p\rents own a restauront that specialise in kebabs...there best one is the beef and prawn!!...large cubes of
beef with prawns between tbem on the grill!...how can you cook beef and prawns on a skewer at the same time?...you cant...but that is Portugese dining at it's best...

@Shippers , a little foodie question for you. Last November was on a 10 day off-roading tour of Portugal, in every restaurant we stopped at, be it high end silver service or back street cafe, a dish of olives was put on the table with our drinks while orders were taken. I love olives, but these little buggers were almost inedible, do they not keep any decent ones back for the home market?

Pretty well the only downer of the whole tour, had a great time.

@frog hopper I know what you mean I dont like olives but partner does she finds the home prepared ones that eateries do inedible. We buy 5k tubs of factory prepared and pack them in jars of olive oil with herbs and spices they take 3 weeks of steeping before theyre ready.

Different country, different tastes. Had some of them on my motorcycle trips, could only manage a few at a time.
