Hi all, advice appreciated. Left my lr4 ignition on earlier for about 5-6 mins max. Forgotten for turn off and had a few windows down. Jumped back in and I would not turn over. Dash was flickering with all sorts of lights, low battery message showed on dash. Took 3 attempts with 2 different vehicle to jump start... battery isn’t a year old yet. Wouldn’t there be anything more sinister underlying or would it be ok if I just left to take over and recharge? Or is it another new battery. Don’t want to be caught out someday park in town or even worse my wife caught, with my 5 kids lol

Don’t know the D4. But.
If ours detects low battery it will shut down itself, (again not sure of D4) to conserve enough to restart.
That said yes recharge and get the battery checked properly, a year old means not much these days.
Have you had any other weird messages on the dash?
What is the battery you have? And if only a year old dig out the receipt it maybe guaranteed.

also for future ref, be extremely careful jump starting a D4, always handy to purchase a CTEK battery charger charger
use one on my D3 via the 12s towing socket
what year is ur disco please and have u got an owners manual for it, if not can find info etc for u
plus another tip is to replace the interior cabin lamp bulbs with LEDS,

Interior lights on? Iirc there are 13 of them and it does not take long for the battery to drain.
Led interior bulbs are a very good mod, if you press and hold the central interior light swicth for a few seconds they will flash to tell you that they are now switched off, same press again for a few seconds to reactivate them.
I would charge and retest the battery, and see how you get on.

I just used ebay cheapies on my D3, 5watt capless ftom memory, used same in number plate and front postion lamps.
Only ones to not last are the number plate ones for some reason, well they last but go black in about 12 months.

And on batteries, I think many of them are reconditioned. I bought a "brand new" one once took it home and it deffo was very low on power. Took it back to the "specialist battery shop" (who did nothing else) and they banged on about the alternator. Insisted on testing it, it came back fine so they were forced to test the batt. Sho nuff one cell duff. Red faces and angry looks replaced it, I insisted they tested it in front of me. Faces went redder and angrier. It passed and lasted a good while.
Oh and as for guar ntees, under the new(and the old) legislation, it is the seller is responsible and I think you still have nearly as many rights as you did under the old "Sale of Goods" act, which was that anything you bought had to work for 6 years. Google new "consumer rights act" to find out. But basically they have one chance to fix a dodgy item, if that doesn't work, they have to give you a new one. Used it recently on an induction hob from John Lewis, got a new one in a week as no one would repair the dodgy one!
(Just keep all receipts!)

Nothing sinister, I suspect you didn’t have a fully charged battery. You need 12+ volts loose a couple of volts or less and the engine won’t crank.
If the battery was totally shot then it’s no lights, wipers, radio etc etc etc, so time for a replacement.

Most modern stuff, if you have less than 12.5/6 you are in trouble.
12 volt means the battery is totally goosesd.

Nice to know fortunately I drive my modern cars more than I do my disco so no issues, and with todays electronic kit fitted the car it can be left untouched for a lot longer and still start. No battery charger required
They have a decent rep, so most likely okay.
DO NOT change the one in the lower glove box, what an utter arse!
now ur tell me, lol, fitted a new one and got to now get a new bulbs For it
