Can’t see it being MOT guys fault all that means is was fine last October god knows what happened since then.
If theyve taken it is good as gone, landy parts are worth more than landys. That said wazzajnr’s one could be fixed with what they will pay out and hasn’t been crashed.

You’d have to strip off the irreparable bits to check underneath and tote up what those parts cost plus then them fit them and get it checked by a professional PROPERLY after.
 
It's a 4.0 thor hse model.
It was a daily driver when it was laid up.
It's Tatty in places especially the interior as it got damp.
Can't remember without looking what the front end was like body wise but I don't recall any major corrosion or damage.
Like I said, you would need to trailer it away.
If you want to have a look, we're not far from you, just over an hour away I guess.

I'm going to wait until an engineer has assessed mine properly and decide afterwards.
If mine is too structurally damaged underneath to repair i.e bent/twisted chassis rather than just cosmetic damage i.e. bonnet bumper wing etc, then it will be scrap anyway.
If it isn't too badly damaged then a donor car is viable for the front axle & propshaft if necessary, radius arm and cosmetic parts
 
IMHO when it got bent all at that corner then the whole chassis and running gear have been stressed unevenly. Would have better to hit straight on

No problem. It's not going anywhere anytime soon.
 
I look at lots of ball joints as part of my job, and the simple fact is they do not just fail, they wear then they wear some more, and if you ignore them they could drop off, twice in 30 odd years have I heard of ones literally dropping off, both times were serious maintenance failures.

It was mot'd last October but wasn't picked up then (MOT garage did mention a creak when turning steering but that was all he said). You can run a DVLA MOT check to verify that from the reg in the photos.
It's only done 14 miles a day to work and back from October until lockdown in March.
Has been parked up from March until Monday this week apart from the odd food shopping trip.
Car has had gearbox drained and refilled with fluid and new filter before lockdown, also front and rear diffs oil change, aircon condensor and dryer, brake accumulator, new exhaust, plugs and ht leads and engine oil and filter during 4 months of furlough.

It would be pretty much impossible for it to be perfectly fine last october, with the little mileage it did....
 
Insurance companies don't seem to like people buying back their damaged vehicles anymore, they seem to want stupid money for the damaged vehicle. I don't know if this is due to some contractual thing they may have with their disposal company.

Is this a recent change, as I had the choice of keeping my P38 that was written off in 2016, but having no off road space, sadly was not an option for me
could have kept it for £400:(

My only personal experience was when I wrote my Honda Blackbird off. I asked about buying it back and they wanted over a grand, they only paid out just over 3 grand. The front end was mangled beyond repair but I was going to buy another and if they would have let me have it for less than £500 it would have been a good source of parts. A friend recently had his Mondeo written off for relatively minor damage, they paid him £2500 and wanted £900 to let him have it back. It might be worth it if you can replace all the damaged bits yourself cheaply. The garage repair estimate was over £3000
