Think someone needs to explain how air is expelled from a sealed unit. Unless it causes air to be moved to the top of the modulator near the bleed nipple. It certainly cannot release air to atmosphere.

Yes according to what I have found out, it mimics pressing the pedal and runs the pump for short intervals to enable bleeding the rear brakes and the modulator. it also tests the circuit by holding the brakes ON for a time to enable you to check for leaks.

Not quite. I quoted the info from Nanocom forums, but have never done my brakes that way. My 1998 is earlier version anyway, sos I cannot vouch for the pro's & con's of that method.
But if you read the info, it does say to do the RAVE manual procedure first !! If that's done correctly why would you need extras from Nanocom ?

The rear brakes on mine self bled..
New calipers on the back, just removed the bleed nipple and allowed fluid to flow out. Once clear of bubbles it was all goooood.......
Front brakes were bled for the hell of it to remove old fluid..
The rave procedure is the one to follow, however in my case I payed no heed to it, pretty self explanatory..

Yes. So did mine, although not deliberately but because I forgot to do the final tightening on a few nuts. You're missing the point though. The lines are a piece of ****. But if the modulator is new and empty or has drained for whatever reason, getting all the air out of that can be an utter PITA.

now for another stupid question lol I just received the nanocom for my Disco and bleeding brakes however.... using the nanocom to abs bleed and modulator and so on.. it doesnt say to have the reservoir cap ON or OFF... i had mine on because i was afraid it would shoot brake fluid all over the place but i just dont know.. anyone?

I'd leave it off and almost brim it. It is just using the pump to push the fluid through. If too much goes out you're back to square 1 so top it up regularly.

"Brim it" are you referring to making a brim to raise the opening in case it wants to shoot out? lol

Fluid is not likely to "shoot out", but it might just overflow if you brim it. Leave the cap off and just keep it topped up.
