so i finally got a scanner after a lot of thought and looking into this and that.
Its a Foxwell NT530, stood me £160,I didn't want to spend that much but it can be upgraded with downloads for other manufactures at around £50 so seen it as an investment.
You get 1 free download - obviously I went for the land rover / jag. haven't played that much yet but am impressed so far. you can save the scan and transfer to a computer from which you get a nice PDF report. on mine it detected 27 modules it froze on the 26th for some reason but i paused it on the 25th and got a report on 17?!?! as i say still haven't fully figured it out yet but there was a funny counting thing going on as it scanned - counted one module as 2 that sort of thing. you seem to be able to do all sorts with it, live streaming of data and a bit of coding even, it also has the important sunroof calibration lol.
goign to di another scan clear the way to many fault codes and see what comes back a week later then start working through them.

There is a Disco 2 owner on one of the LR forums and he is having a hell of a time using his 530 on his Disco 2.
I've got the older NT510 and I don't have any of the problems he is having with his 530. It might just be 'user error'.

yep the activate instructions must have been for a development model or something i had to read between the lines, and the GUI is clean and simple - maybe a bit simple.
I hate more functions less buttons, so yeah i think it will be a matter of randomly mashing buttons until i figure it out, not sure how good the 40 page instruction manual will be. lol

Does is support Key & Fob programming ?

Though it states on the Foxwell site that it does program, I could never get my Foxwell NT510 to program my extra Disco 2 key fob.

27 ecu computer modules is more than what my FL2 metropolis has fitted. I have a Hawkeye and IIDBT diagnostic tools. Don't have the Hawkeye list of what it can fiund with me at the moment but the IIDBT can find 20 ecu's on my FL2. My FL2 is a metropolis which was the highest standard build spec FL2 in the UK so I assume it has the most ecu's available from the option list, as it has all the electronic options fitted.

In total the IIDBT has a list of 32 ecu computer modules listed in the fault scanning section, with 12 not fitted to my FL2. For eggsample you only need one engine ecu from the available options for different engines.

The complete IIDBT list of available options and what's fitted to my FL2 is below. It would be interesting to see a list of what your Foxwell NT530 displays for your FL2. I have been looking for info on someone using the Foxwell on a FL2 for a while but not found much so far. A lot of peeps have purchased a Foxwell device but not many post detail about using it online.

So playing about a bit more, it scans 17 control units but gives 27 results - must be sub systems? you can generate PDFs, here is my first scan - - lots of errors which mainly cleared - but it is getting caught up in the FCDIM and not completing it when it comes to scan the sat nav?
I went to update my injectors, RE my other post, however this function is locked out - came up with a security message.
I am guessing this is a landrover thing - what is the normal a way around this?
