Hi all,
Hope your all surviving the chaos.

I am after some help with an Essex V6 that’s been put in my series, it was professionally converted using the Steve Parker kit before i bought it.

Having a few issues and questions if anyone has any knowledge on these engines and conversions?

Thanks

I had a Series 3 V6 a few years ago, had the steve parker conversion - also had many 3.0 Ford Capri's, back in the day, memory not great though - worth a try..

Great, thank you.

Main issue is it appears to be overheating like instantly, after about 5/10 minutes the engine and rad is roasting. The series temperature gauge has never worked and there is a capillary one connected to a port at the back of the block.
I bought a new sender and replaced the one at the front of the engine by the thermostat housing and then wired it up to the series gauge which then started working, it was sitting at the high end of N and then got higher.

I have ordered an electric fan to replace the clutch one as it is not in line with the radiator but wondered what else it could be? I have flushed through the rad and the engine several times too and there wasn't anything alarming that came out. Oil looks ok, though I will do an oil change.

General question is how has other people had theirs setup for cooling? Did you have an external capillary temperature gauge, and which one did you find was good to use and where did you plumb it to?

I have had the Carb refurbed too, need a few little adjustments but when driving the car sounds sweet, I do however have a connection coming out of the bakelite gasket under carb and was wondering if I needed to connect it to something or whether I can block it off.

Probably more questions coming soon.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

With the cap off the radiator can you see the water beeing pumped into top of rad? Have you tried removing the thermostat in case it is not opening fully?
