You can get special tools, but I did mine without. It is fiddly and cramped in the corner of the roof. The worst I found was aching arms, holding them up for so long.

When I did mine I put them back how i found them with the bead outside, guessing it should be inside. I didn't have any special tools other than one of the orange plastic trim removers.

My beads were outside too which is correct. I've got the special tool to put the beading in, it's homemade and was given to me by a mates dad, works well too with lube.
You can do it with flat bladed screwdrivers but it's a faff.

Mine were on the inside, so I put them back like that. Will be a lot easier putting them in from the outside.

My homemade (not by me) one.
poke the beading up the pipe tube handle and through the steel rod diamond bit. As you pull the tool along the seal groove the diamond bit at the bottom spreads the groove and the beading is fed into it.

Loads on eBay but don't know how good they are, cheap enough to take a gamble?
