Hi I have a range rover sport 2.7tdv6 56reg.im trying to locate the crankshaft position sensor.ive gone online and come across 2 types for this model one located on the side of the engine near gearbox and one at front of engine can anyone tell me which one I need for this model.

I think you will find it is in the bellhousing, hidden by the turbo.

Have you physically checked the cambelt timing? not just seen the belt is still there.
Easy to check and vids on youtube, visocus fan needs to come off.

Have physically checked belt but not timing local lr specialist near me said good fuel pressure but no compression said crank sensor getting pulse on diagnostics but I'm not sure .

Timing timing and er timing
What everyione is getting at is the crank may have failed, and if so all the sensors will be doing their thing but not at the right time, hence the no start
One of the camchains could have failed, one on each cylinder bank.

Don't want to sound stupid but what's a caps. New to these cars sorry.
CPS is the acronym for Crank Position Sensor. ;)

A failed CPS won't give you low compression, so if you have low compression, you physical engine issue. These engines are good at breaking crankshafts, slipping timing belts and cam drive chains failing. Normally some part of the engine mechanicals fail, rather than the electronics that drive the engine.
Low compression is the clue, so more investigation is needed.

I have the same problem:
RRS 2007 tdv6 2.7 wont start, cranks great near fires but wont start fuel pressure ok
fuel pressure sensor ok. JLR SDD shows no faults since new fuel pressure sensor. Autel says crank shaft sensor.
fault crank shaft sensor apparently at rear of engine below turbo see: 4min 19 sec into video. Apparently take off front drivers wheel turbo right facing behind shield sensor to left of this can apparently be accessed here?
I have Rover Range Rover L320 full workshop repair manual.
