Hi All,

I've been wanting to do a camping trailer for some time, and while I started a little while a go things I do tend to move slow, but with the recent lock down and Furlough things really picked up so I thought I would share with you all! Not sure how many photos I will upload in one go, but there are a lot. Hopefully enough that I don't have to type too much!

As i type this the trailer is at what I think as the first phase, which means we can use it but I still have bigger plans for it, which will take a little longer to plan and do.

In true form over function style I wanted to replicated a Defender on the trailer - not very original i know, but I still like it. :)

Used a Sankey Mk3 as a base - which had to be modified. I was a bit conflicted doing this as the the trailer as it was, was great. But after a lot of thinking and even buying another trailer to use instead I still went for the Sankey route as they are perfect for it.

The Sankey needed to be extended so that the new body would go on without hitting the tow vehicle when turning.

If anyone can tell me how to upload more than one photo at a time, I'd appreciate it, as the way i'm doing it is slow!

Fitting bumperettes - bit more than bolting in place as the chassis rails on the sankey are wider than a Defender so I couldn't get to the back of some of the bolts. Captive nuts required.

Was able to get a bit more done over the last few weekends: firstly spraying the under coast white to "blend" the colours at the join - looked less obvious in the primer but hey ho.

Then mounting the tent to the roof which i had to modify the roof rack to fit.

Then test it all out and give the tent a clean and weather proof.

Also stuck in an RCBO as reading up this is needed.

Then making some jacking points so I can get it level when setting up - as the Sankey is so high I had to get creative as all jack legs I found would be too short to make any meaningful adjustment Just saw Bobsticals work and thinking that might have been a better idea, but I've started now, so i'll see how it pans out.
