Disco 2 Engine and Transmission "Cooking" Protection

Thinking about buying and installing engine overheating protection. Engine all going well and just want to have some insurance against everything going belly-up due to sudden coolant loss. Have been towing a trailer a fair bit and also wondering about keeping an eye on the transmission in case of overheating when the weather warms up late in the year and I'm towing a fully-loaded trailer up decent hills.

Does anyone have a firm recommendation here?

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I thort the Auto may have an overheat warning, but then I may be thinking of something else and I have to give certain peeps on here summat to do.
The temperature gauge is notoriously not topo good but it must be possible to either use one of the other existing temp sensors, or fit another aftermarket one, if you are worried both for the collant and the ATF.
I know it gets hot down under but these things are supposedly tested to be able to cross deserts.

Iirc D1 auto has oil temp sensor in the atf coolant hose, so would guess the D2 is the same?

Gearbox might just need a larger oil cooler?

automatic transmission does have a red warning light,mines coming on frequently even when its not too hot,im guessing i need a new switch

Yes Fluid temp sensor mentioned page 7B.5 of Haynes manual, so it must be there. I have afeeling it lights something on the dash if it gets too hot but I haven't my manual to hand.
Maybe a bigger fan? or, as you said a recored cooler. But I still question the absolute need for it. AULRO are probably more likely to know.
