My driver's side power fold wing mirror has developed a problem, seems to fold in OK (usually) but then has problems folding back out. I'm guessing some of the internal gears have stripped, but can't for the life of me find any info online how I can access these. Does the whole unit need to come off?
Any help gratefully received, thanks all
Tom

I have the same fault, tried reset.. close passenger mirror, pull fuse etc.. etc.. to resync! Didn't work, so I pulled rear trim off the drivers mirror to access the micro switch and metal strip which activates the switch... in this instance the micro switch was gummed up, cleaned and light oil sorted it!

It's not so much an off/on sort of issue, more of a grinding-gears-sound sort of issue.
Just looked and it's got oblong lights , 2005 SC. How does the thing come apart?

Is there a speaker panel inside the door?

hopefull it doesn't require the whole door panel to come off?
If the panel removes to reveal screws holding the mirror in and you can start from there hopefully. ;)

Why don't you try fixing it first? Carefully prise either the mirror surround or rear cover off, you then have access to the workings.. a bit of grease may solve the problem and cheaper than a replacement unit? It's a two minute job!

Am I missing something, crow bar and other comments, "lock down" syndrome?

If its a gear issue from what I can gather if it has oblong light then it doesnt take apart its a sealed unit only option is new : the price) or second hand.
