Hi

May i pick ur brains plse, I’ve yet again got a flat tyre, is leaking on the tyre rim

Had this around 4/5 times where I’ve had to get the tyres removed and remounted

If I don’t use the disco for a while I get the issue , am wondering if the rim can become pitted

Tyres are cooper AT/3 , over a period of time it’s done it on every rim

Trying to think of a solution, maybe getting the tyres dismounted and using an abrasive wheel to clean up the inside of the alloy rims

Pics are where I started cleaning up the spare rim, looks a lot better after using the abrasive wheel

can’t really think of anything else apart from using an abrasive wheel, would use be so kind to recommend a pain to spray inside the rim please to protect it or can I just use ordinary wheel alloy paint

many thks as always

A tyre fitter will paint on black rubber sealant as a stop gap, looks like that has been done previously.
A more permanent solution is what you've started, clean back to bare metal, smooth and fill as required, then paint/lacquer to keep the air off and stop it oxidising again.

many thks, so that’s what that black paint is, I wondered about that , nice one :D

daft question if I may plse , what type of filler , primer etc should I use plse

thks again

Gary your doing it the right way, basically refurbing the wheel. Take it right back to good clean metal couple of coats of primer a top coat and that should seal it.

hi mate

many thks and the ceramic wheel I have in the drill seems to clean it off without too much trouble

The outside of the wheels are fine , alas don’t know what type of primer etc I would need to use

as always very grateful

Did you fit another tyre on that rim since it started or just refitted the one which was on it? ...if you didnt try with other tyre better do that to not have the surprise that the tyre has a puncture and you struggle with the rim.

hiya

had the tyres swapped round onto different rims as i wondered if it was a bad tyre or rim but is weird because if I don’t use the landy for a while it just seems random of which one goes flat

All new tyres were fitted, shame I couldn’t let them down and push the tyre off the bead to give me room to clean

What I might do is buy a set of 4 x rims, ensure there all clean and can then get them swapped over in one hit

Funny enough that’s what I done, sprayed the tyre and could see it just leaking from the bead, valves are ok

when I can will get a pic to shoe u how much it’s leaking , feel really rough today so will do it as soon as I can

thks as always
