Happy Mothers day everyone :)

Does anyone know the difference between the rear lights on a 3.9 G Reg classic? I see there are two types , 1 with a black border and 1 without.
Mine have without but the black boarders seem cheaper and my offside has a crack in it :(

My 1987 3.5 rear lights had the black boarder, iirc. So the model year of the vehicle may be the reason.

I have a 3.5efi Vogue built in June '87
No borders around the car's rear lights & none showing in the manuf. sales literature from the same period.

Sorry I can't comment on later model years, many years past since owning a 3.9.

Perhaps mine didn’t then, maybe it was pre EFI, I’ll have a look for my sales brochure
RR light fittings weren’t of interest to me or any one else back then, what ever was fitted stayed fitted for my 10 years of RR ownership.

Mine's an 86 EFi & doesn't have the black edges.
This site covers all MYs & the pics you can see of 1970s cars all appear to have the black edging.

There is mention of 'New lamp cluster with fog light' for 1980MY & the pic still shows black edging.
First pic of no black edge I can find is in the brochure (on the site, will load separately & you can enlarge) for
1983 Range Rover Model Year - VIN AA - Released: August 1982
Quick look at a couple of later MYs also shows no black border so probably a change for the 1983MY that they continued.
Info elsewhere that early & late have different electrical plugs but I don't know when that took place.

RTC4590/1 are the black edged ones, I think they're for 1986 to 1994 Classic models ...

The ones without the black edge are early ones with the round plug fitting ...
RTC5552 /1
