Hi,
I have a recently acquired (this week) '93 3.5 litre V8 auto.
Having joined the forum & spent the week trying to solve a non starting / fuel issue, I have now
been directed to focus on the fuel injection ecu. Does anyone out there have a known good one I can try / borrow to see if it solves the problem? Obviously, I want to try before buying one.
I'm located in Hersham, Surrey. ......willing to travel a reasonable distance & given the current health crisis will also keep a reasonable distance....

Make a note of the part number that’s stated on the ECU, there’s four part numbers for the 200 series V8s disco, depending on the vehicle VIN. The later 300 series there only two ECUs available through out the discos life.

You can if u wish PM me your VIN I’ll look it up in my genuine Land Rover parts catalogue :)

The catalogue states there was refurbished ECUs available, I doubt LR sell them now, the big parts supplier such as Rimmer bros may still be able.

OK, thanks, good to know there is that option.

Don’t worry, we have the part number, the ECU is the original one for the 1993 model year disco, so was available in late 92 for vehicles with a VIN from KA034314 up to KA064754.
If part number had an E at the end it would have be one of LR exchanges, that was available at the time.

OK, thanks that's good to know. Do the VIN no's only apply to series 1 models? ie would a series 2 have a different type? & does it have to be a PRC 9235 specifically?

Yes stick to that part, the specifics of why the change is never published it could be electronic or simply an improved fixing method, who knows, just the same with any superseded item.

There’s two ECUs before yours and one after which is the 94MY available in late 93, after 94 come the new so called ‘300 series’ which was a face lift but never called that, which was the 1995MY which was available in early 94, a mix and match for the first couple of months with LRs disco electrical system installation.

Thats all for know... Next :)

VIN's are about each vehicle specs and MY, a D2 is completely different and i'd say that you need the same ECU(i'm not 100% certain though)... IMO at the prices of remanufactured or used 14CUX ECU's your best bet woud be to send your's to that shop or contact the others which are closer to see what's theyr's price for that
