diesel engine

hi ive just joined your land rover club.i'm brian just brought a 1966 landy petrol with a spare diesel engine.i want to know if it would mate up to the petrol gear box any info would be great thanks

What engine, what gearbox, is your vehicle standard?

If it is a period engine, don't bother. Slower, unrefined, very noisy and only marginally better mpg.

ok thanks its a series 2a,has anyone got a petrol engine 2 2.5 thanks can collect at the right price also would like to here it running
