Right here, right now.
I sold a perfectly reasonable Avensis for the Freelander 1 TD4. Sane? I like to think so. Up to a point, at least. Been having fun tinkering with it. Need to buy a new trolley jack, my old one won't lift it high enough to get the wheels off. That was a surprising little snag, lol. Toyota went to BMW for the Avensis diesel engine instead of developing their own D4D to meet higher Euro emission standards. I must say that was a pity, if the one they chose was anything like the one in the Freelander. Not a terrible engine, but the Toyota D4D is a decent amount better, if you ignore the head gasket and cylinder ring problems they eventually fixed. Although, that is probably biased and unbalanced by my experience of it being in a saloon car, rather than a 4x4. They could feel worse in a RAV4. Anyway, I now have a Landy, even if it isn't a prehistoric aluminium monster I dreamt of owning. Time to get out for that new jack so I can change the braking system out for new pads, discs, drums and shoes. Those drums are bloody heavy!
