Series 3 Heater snail replacement

The strip is well underway of my S3 109, I'm putting together a shopping list before my chassis goes for blasting, my snail is stuffed, can anyone think of a reason I couldn't 3d print a replacement doesn't get toastie in there does it ?

Probably be ok but if your stripping it down anyway why not refit one from an old defender.

having a look at that now, been googling it for a couple of days hadnt come across that option, but wasnt looking for it specifically, cheers

Is the motor still good? My snailbox was in far better condition than yours but the motor was just a heap of rust. If you do decide to 'upgrade' save the hamster wheel for me!.....

I thought my tin snail was rusty! I have seen them on ebay but I haven't looked in a while. I think someone was making them and galvanising them.

It looked ok from above, the inner guard had vaporised so wasnt getting any protection, looking at the defender snails, going to ask the welder who's doing my fine work to see if he could mig one if i fabricate the parts from some stainless I have sitting, I only have a stick.

although I did get the rad out last night, exhaust coming off today, then need to borrow an engine crane, at least its moving, pics on instagram gurty109_landy

Make sure you put the steering wheel nut back on loosely next time you try as I nearly broke my nose getting mine off awhile ago.

Thanks I haven't many teeth left, I did read that during my travels, may well have been one of your posts think I'm going to have to get inventive disco wheel jammed on there

depend son if you want to refit the wheel or are planning on going back to original. A grinder and some careful application should remove the wheel without damaging the column. A more modern wheel is going to be a challenge to get a puller onto.
