Lift Pump Think I need a new One

Jus got my engine started for the first time on rebuild a couple of weeks ago, had a few problems with pumping fuel through so got a Practically New Liftpump from a mate and finally got it started. Been starting first time every time for the last week or so without any leaks whatsoever. Started it tonight and THIS happened, pis!!!ing out the hole on middle . what's caused this, is my pump Knackered ??

Dam Thanks , My local place might have one they are open tomorrow morning, that's if I can afford the prices they charge.

I only sold a brand new Delphi one with nuts and olives on Ebay for 20 quid delivered a week or so ago

Cost me 25 quid on Sunday for bearmach one from my local landy shop, I fitted it and all fine now.

I do not know if it is my luck, the high mileage I do, or just the quality of new parts but I treat a lift pump almost as a service item. They last me about 18months - 2years. And that is the proper delphi ones, with the cheaper bearmach and britparts ones the record is 3 weeks! At least they are farily cheap parts and easy enough to replace. Mine fails regularly enough that I carry a spare one in the battery box!

I fitted an electric one a few yrs ago, that failed (stopped making the clicking sound when the ign was switched on) I was miles from home at the time and panic set in!
I started it up expecting it to die after a minute or so but it didn't so drove home and it's still running fine without one some 3 yrs later- 110 rear tank 200tdi.

I to got fed up with std lever pumps failing, so fitted a facet one, been very good.
I think when manual pump fails, the internal poppet valves cause a restriction to the fuel flow, hence the sllght drop in top end power, as the pump dies.
I have totally removed the manual pump, so even if I forget to switch the facet on, the car still drives okay.

Lots of cars run the bosch ve pump with no other means of lifting the fuel.

I had a new britpart one that wouldn't work on the engine but pumped fine when I worked it off the car, holding the new and old pumps side by side it was easy to see that the cam lever was the wrong shape and the camshaft lobe wasn't even touching it.
The cam lever was pressed out of pretty substantial steel into a U channel shape and I couldn't bend it in a vice so it was obviously not handling damage. I wonder how many of them were churned out with that fault?
I've got a new facet electric pump ready to fit to replace the failed one but, as I said, she runs fine without.
It was useful on a fuel filter change but I've found if I fill the filter first, start the engine (that's still warm after a run) and just let it idle then it self bleeds after 20-30 secs with a slight stutter or two.

What facet pumps are you guys fitting?

Facet cube type here circa 4psi.
Mines failed though but I suspect it's because I use bio which attacks rubber seals inside it. Apparently the silver top type at twice the price don't have rubber seals but my 200tdi 110 rear tank runs fine with no pump at all.
Don't get a cheapy copy they are rubbish, gen facet only imho.

1/8" BSP to 10mm compression fittings will screw into a facet cube pump in replacement of the hosetails supplied, you can then cut the original 10mm landy nylon pipe and connect it straight up

This is what I fitted, not sure if copy or genuine? but being a tight wad, copy would be my guess!
Been on since Dec 15.

I have fixed up an old series type lift pump with screws on top for the next modern one to fail on my 200
