P38A Tacky dash

Hi all.
Probably been done to death, this one, but my black dash switch surrounds are all tacky as if the original material has started to .
Any ideas?

They all seem to go like that, both mine have.

You need some of that stick on carbon Fibre or the paint finish that seems to be popular on the e of bay!

I cleaned the black off the edges of the side panels and painted them with satin black, if it lasts, i will do it to the switch panels

Tacky or Sticky which I have a couple of of aftermarket switches that have gone sticky.

Interesting. Its a chemical reaction and I would have thought that amongst all the clever people on this forum and their wider contacts that some chemist could work out an antidote. Paint does not do it for me so I will try some random chemicals and get back to you.

And then you can become one of those ''clever people'. And have helped others in the process. That's what keeps the forum going

Make a paste of baking soda or use orange essential oil. Works on most plastics

Could also try isopropyl alcohol which removes the outer coating

Urinate into a cup.... about 3 cupfuls should do it, and take a golden shower......



Ps.... it wont help with the dash at all.... im just a kinky sicko

It's not plastic, it's some kind of coating on the plastic. Acetone improves it a bit but is very aggressive.

Which parts of the dash are we talking about? I've not noticed any stickiness on mine.

Nor mine.
95s are probably dried out by now no urea left in them

Around the switches, the little fan intake and the edges past the radio down towards the gear lever.

Only thing I got is where it was standing for years the vents the heat comes out of are permanently marked with what looks like verdigris but is only marks
