It might be a midlife crisis but just sort of wondered what happened to the range rover brand? In my school days, a black 3.9 vogue was my car to own, few years on, a top of the range p38 anniversary or Holland and Holland was the goal. After that came the l322, the car of my dreams, got there and now own a 2012 overfinch vogue, 4.4 tdv8. Thats where the story ends, maybe it's just me but unfortunately I have no inclination to own the next model as they all look the same, sports, evoques, velars, they could all be mistaken for all the rest of the pretend 4x4,s, sad times and modern times!!!

You've reached the peak of contentment and saw nothing new ahead. Welcome to the Zoo your wisdom is always wanted on here.
:D

In my 3.5 days there was just two RR models, I needed a family vehicle with space to carry heavy landscaping stuff Inside so as the RR fitted the bill I got one, and when it wore out I replaced it with a disco as i still hadn’t finish my garden project I still need the carrying space but for the last fifteen + years I been looking to replace it,

So with LRs products now I will have to except fittings in the vehicle that I would never use, a reason I never purchased a D2 although I was tempted... seven seats, hill decent control sunroof some times as an example and there’s a few more, then there’s the size of the RRs my disco is bad enough in the tractor wide lanes that I use.

So I went back to normal cars, the only thing I miss is the driving hight and sometimes boot size but then I still have a low mileage disco for carrying stuff.
Then there a classic car for the summer to use but only when its sunny :D

If you're nostalgic for the original classic, the P38 is really the last "proper" Range rover..
(1) has a proper box section chassis.
(2) still is pretty easy to work on, so long as you can get your arse around the Rave manual
(3) Shares the venerable Rover V8 with its predecessor
(4) Overfinch tinkered with it when they were a brand of class and innovation, not the pimp mobiles of today.
(5) Still has the country set look about it..
(6) Very comfortable
(7) Looks very smart without shouting its badge, old money whispers ETC ETC
(8) Upside is they don't dissolve when it rains
(9) Drivetrain components are pretty bulletproof
(10) The Ride is really rather good, better than the coil sprung classic and the L322 IMO.
(11) interior is light and airy.
(12) Seats are extremely comfortable
Many slate the P38 and it is often airbrushed over, most go from the Classic to the L322 without the mention of the last Range Rover that had roots in the classic.

There also is the members especially those of the L322 that slate the evoque and L405 + the sport and claim they're not real land rovers / Range Rovers.
In reality the L322 is just as fake and unrelated to the original Range Rover Name as the spin offs of the same name..
Nothing in the L322 reminds you of the original range rover, the only thing i can think of is the size, and it isn't big I find them "brash" and in ya face, especially with massive alloys and gangsta tints..

And breath... :)
