Window channel

I'm about to fit some new door tops and I'm fittng the window channels and ally bits. I have 2 spare bits of ally, about 10" long x 3/4" wide and flat. Found a set in my leftovers box from last time so I must have not known then either! Where do they go?

It may be, but its shorter, too short to be part of the upright and only about half the window length, its thin too so I can't see it being a packer. It wouldn't surprise me if these all get put in the scrap bin because no one can remember where they go. In this pic its the 2 strips 3rd and 4th from the left:

Long time ago, I think those were shims that went underneath the runners so the glass fitted snugly in the channels to prevent rattling

trying to remember when I done mine , also wonder if they can be used as a shim for the uprights

This is like no other on the market, this is literally every part that is used to glaze your door top including all of the channels and the aluminium fixing/spacing panels. It even includes the rubber seal that goes upright on the sliding piece of glass that seals the 2 glass panes as they slide to stop that draft! The curved aluminium piece that clamps this onto the glass is also included.

Also comes with the all important screws, 10 taper had ones for the channel and 5 dome headed ones for the aluminum retainer for the fixed pane of glass.



The channel itself is cut to the right length to fit your door top and the longer piece has the hole punched out to allow the plastic sliding latch to pop through. No other channel comes with this feature. With other channel on the market you have cut this out yourself which very rarely ends up with a neat result!



These are used to glaze brand new door tops so they are top quality and a perfect fit. All made in the UK.



Usually the glass in your old door top is still very useable but this is what makes new glazed door tops a lot more expensive than unglazed units. Buying our new door tops and this fitting kit gives you an “out of the factory” end result.

Is it same length as fixed glass, I would agree with GStuart in it’s a packer to keep things tight, I might have some pics when I did mine years ago, got the ally ones now

THat makes sense, well I've got plenty so I'll try that. I'm fitting galv door tops for the first time so I'll see how it goes. At £47 ex vat each they look like a good deal. The galv is thick and they are ally clad.
