I’d imagine if they’ve had it since September 2018 that it’s long gone and your unlikely to get it back.
What do the garage say regarding returning it

yer its not looking good , ive had 18 month of lies i think , gona go up next week and see them its a bit of a drive but gota find out whats going on with it , 17 month no off roading is killing me i used to be in it every day , if its not there then its a job for the police as a stolen vehicle , they have a good web sight which pulled me in and thought it would be all ok n done in a month or two .

I note you're in northumberland.

there has been an issue with LR's disappearing in the night at quite a rate up there IIRC.

Blunt honesty, would you give your defender, seven and a half grand over eighteen months and then ask advice on a public forum about what to do next
I've only ever paid a garage AFTER they've completed any work and I've inspected it
Not a chance. However, I did have my 4yrs old 2005 Audi A8 stolen by a garage I had a dispute with. They came highly recommended to rebuild the engine when big ends failed. Too convoluted to go into here, but your post, in my opinion, was an unnecessary put-down to a new member.

Come on...he's thinking of popping up to see whats happened to his vehicle and 7.5k after 18 months and if it's not there will alert police...FFS !!...

Hi. There's a new member on here from Dundee area that I just welcomed this morning.
If I were you, I'd make contact and ask them to visit the bandits who have your car and ask them to recce the place to see if it's there.
Good luck with your quest!
Mike.

Not a good idea...if they are a bunch of crooks things could get nasty...he needs to get there pronto himself and deal with it...

If I was close by, I'd be happy to go there saying I was considering having a new chassis on my Defender. That'd be reasonable grounds to ask for a full tour of their set-up.

If they are crooks never underestimate them...do you have a defender for them to look at?!...doubt you get past reception if they are...

Such negativity! What's wrong with glass half-full, instead of half-empty! A phone call to suggest a tour would be perfectly reasonable, also asking if they could pick up an off-the-road Defender. Rocking up in a different vehicle or just walking into the place for a pre-arranged visit shouldn't be an issue.

Sorry to hear that you may have been taken in by crooks. I do hope it is not as it appears to be and that the garage is actually working on your vehicle and all is good.
Best get yourself up there and take a look. If they are crooks, then the Police station is your next stop.
