TD5 bad start

Are you able to read values with Nanocom from ECU during starting? It's not possible on my TD5, the communication stops and I have to restart the Nanocom...

Yes, mine needs a re-boot if you start with the ignition off and then start the engine, or vice versa. However, if you put the ignition on, then attach the Nanocom and get that screen with the various instrument readouts on it and turn the engine over on the starter it should give you an rpm reading - going from zero to around 260 in my case. If so, then the ECU must be getting a meaningful crank position sensor signal while the starter motor is running.
 
I do it in the same way like you described but it doesn't work...I need to restart the Nanocom I can never monitor the starting behavior...
 
Looks like I've charged my battery yesterday on a drive and now I can measure with Nanocom during the start:

This was a "bad" start, I had to hold the starter around 5 seconds...
 
I think with the result above, CKP Sensor is not the issue. I've found the genuine injector seals on my desk - I thought I've used them, so I'm not sure which quality the current injector seals have.

When I'm doing that, how do I clean the injector seat (cylinder head) and the part on the injector where the seal is placed to get a 100% clean solution between cylinder head and injector?

I climbed onto the engine,and using a dowel with tissue wrapped around, wiped around injector seat visually checking all soot had been removed.
 
Today I want to change the seals, the old ones looks like this :

I've got new ones original Land Rover ERR6417 and they don't fit!

The inner diameter is of the old ones are a bit bigger. The injectors are overhauled from Land Rover...not sure whats wrong now....
 
I'm a little hesitant, I don't want to ruin the nozzle, how can I clean the nozzle gently? BTW: The old CU seals ones can be removed and fitted easily...

Hi, I've cleaned the injectors gently with the back of a knife....the CU washers didn't fit, tested with different washer/injectores. I've measured that the genuine washers has an inner diameter of 7mm, like the tip of the nozzle but moving towards, the nozzle has an diameter of 7,2mm. I don't want to fit the washers with force because it leaves scratches on the nozzle and I think i can never remove the washer again. The injectors are refurbished with Delphi nozzles....I'm lost somehow now...

copper wont scratch the hardened steel nozzle,they are often a tight fit, you could try tapping them home with a suitable sized tube,if really tight youd have to get some more and try them
 
Something must be wrong these days in the injector washers/seals business cos a friend of mine bought also genuine LR seals(came as ''made in Egypt") and the o-rings were leaking bad all from the beginning, measured with calipers they were thinner than the old ones which were factory fitted :confused:... in return he was lucky with the washers which were perfect :rolleyes:
 
Hm...something is wrong with my overhauled injectors...I've got 5 other injectors just for curiosity and the seals fits. I'm thinking about to test them in my TD5 but they are used ones. One of them looks a bit odd:

There is soot also on the injector body....what do you think. Clean it and test it?
 
I've fitted the used injectors last weekend after I had them cleaned and recoded (timings) them and the TD5 is starting immediatly. :D
