More trouble shooting.

replaced the deflection pulley as it was most definitely on its way out.

found some play in the power steering pump fore and aft. The pump feels smooth and spins fine still. But I’m guessing this needs to be done fairly ASAP

Water pump. Had my new pump in (metal impeller as recommended - from euros) already seems to be a tiny bit of play in the shaft. No more than the previous pump which also was a metal impeller (so presumably changed not too long ago). Pump has only been in a week or two

tensioner arm also seems to have play for and aft in it. On the main pivot with the large Allen key

I’ve included a video.

Any help?

It's German engineering, don't expect perfect:rolleyes:

Have you ran it without the alternator belt on it?
If there are no noises with it off then you know there is no problems with the timing chains and guides...

Ran the car without the belt. Hard to diagnose anything, because for some reason without the belt it ran so bloody rough and noisy. Could this be the lack of tension on the crank damper from the belt causing It to make more noise?

Also besides noise will a worn crank pulley damper cause vibration?

I had a feel and couldn’t really feel any play in it.

I’m thinking I might just get a 2nd hand tested one cheap to see for testing purposes

Oh and since taking the belt off, it running **** and re-installing. It’s now got a horrible vibration at idle

Sounds like something more serious than the crank damper.
