Thanks for the advice Andy, but I've got tons of sockets, like for 1/4", 3/8" & 1/2" I have single and double hex shallow and deep sockets, in 3/4" drive its just shallow single hex, and air impact guns for 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" & 3/4", and a dewalt cordless 1/2". I do agree that impact guns are game changers. However, because the bottom balljoint comes in from the bottom of the wishbone and the nut is very close to the underside of the driveshaft's outer CV joint as it enters the hub, all you can get in there on to the nut with is an open end spanner.

I might get a ringkey over it it I skimmed it with a grinder to make the ring thinner so it can get between the nut and the CV joint, or if I cut the balljoint off the wishbone, and removed the hub with balljoint still attached to hub then I could get a socket on it and rattle gun it off, or slice it off as I like playing with the powertools, but rattle gunning it off would be the more sensible solution as it would then leave the pin intact and give me somethin for the balljoint splitter to press down on.

If you mind the pictures of my driveshafts earlier, where you suggested I find a parking space that wasn't in the north sea, the bottom balljoints threads are like that as well, so between the size of it, the inherent torque, compounded by 18 years of scottish rusting, its taking way more force than an open ender is able to exert.
undo the drive shaft nut and tap it back a bit, gives more room to get a ring spanner on

I made progress getting "project Tonga" back together. She now has a front bumper and fog lights too. I also insured her for her MOT trip.
So just some brake pipes for the MOT and fingers crossed, she's back on the road next week.

I also came across some G4 stuff on Ebay for £2200:eek: I want the roof rack, but not the other stuff. :(

Tried to buy a V6 sport. I've just got to share this. Ebay purchase, knocking engine and timing belts removed. Sounded a challenge for a spare evening!!

Bought and agreed a price for seller to deliver, he had use of a trailer too.
Supposed to arrive midday today.
11am I get a message saying battery is flat, can't get in. Did I want a refund.
I explained that the drivers door should open without a battery.
Apparently the key lock didn't operate the door lock.
I suggested that they break the drivers window as I have many spares.
12.30 I contact to see how loading is going.
I am told the car has fallen whilst loading and is now on its roof!!
Did I want a refund!?
I said that as they clearly wanted to get rid of it, load it on the trailer and I would negotiate a price for spares when I saw it

I thought I was being very fair although I don't believe for a minute the story was true.

When I next looked at my messages I had been given a refund!!

Guy won't now communicate or tell me what really happened and I have no project car having wasted a day sitting around.
There are some odd bods around.

Just thought I'd share!!!

I had a similar disappointment on Saturday Andy.

We were looking at getting a small car from our eldest daughter who has just passed her test. The wife found a 2011 Ford Ka for sale in Twickenham for about 1/2 the price of the same car being sold locally. So she tells the seller that we're coming now, don't sell it and we'll pay cash when we get there later in the afternoon. We'll on route, the wife tells the seller that we're on our way, and gives him an ETA. The seller responded 20 minutes later saying that is wife has decided not to sell it. Thankfully we were only 40 miles from home, so simply turned round. I had paid for an HPI check before we set off, and fed the 2 younger daughters a McDonald's breakfast, we wouldn't have bought had we not headed of London. We actually bought the original car (Fiat 500:eek:) we looked at. Annoyingly the Ka we were going to bye, turned up for sale again later on Saturday afternoon, now £500 more expensive in a different part of London, being sold by someone else.

It's bloody annoying. A deal is a deal, or it was in the past.

Another slightly related story. Bid and won a set of genuine FL1 roofbars on eBay before Christmas. Duly paid and waited. Contacted the seller just before the New Year who apologised cos it was Christmas etc. and he'd post them straight away. Two weeks later nothing so emailed again, no response!. Raised case with eBay who contacted seller. Still nothing. eBay tell me it isn't covered under their money back thing for some reason so looks like I'm out of pocket. Luckily it was less than £20 but still bloody annoying. I might just keep emailing the guy every day :).

Not today but last weekend, fitted egr blank. Difference is really good on slight throttle openings where it used to be a bit flat, now its smooth acceleration. Fuel economy seems better. Still got driveshaft to do....

I have replaced the centre exhaust and front rear diff mount :)

Aha! First time I've seen a Landy exactly like mine. Red as well. Only problem is your steering wheel is on the wrong side!!!!

Sent mine off to the dealer because of a starting fault freelander 2 lr2 looks like key fob receiver and steering lock

Found a screw in the tire and had to buy another as it was about an inch from the edge. Tire had only done 1500 miles. :(

In my last job I got a lot of punctures in my company car and every time it was near the edge and I needed a new tyre.
Funny old thing but KwikFit was the company used to look after tyres.
I always wondered if the position of the punctures was a coincidence. o_O

Replaced low pressure fuel pump outside work. It was quite noisy Monday morning. Stopped entirely by Tuesday lunchtime. Fortunately, just leaving me stranded in a car park. Glad I've had that assembly out recently, though. Only took an hour including a test drive.

I bet they always had the size and brand of tyre you were after too.
