We believe our disco 2 has had an attempted break in, my partner tried to open it with key fob with no success, tried the key in the door and the key will not fully go in.. after many pushing of buttons he managed to unlock it, he then tried to start it and the immobiliser light is on and can not start it.. he found the dash board is lifted and a dead switch below the window wiper was out.. which gives us the suspicion that someone has got into the car somehow.
can anyone help on how to get it started as it has been immobilised... we can’t start or lock the car.

Why would they have locked it after? Are you sure its been broken into? Did the fob work previously?
Working perfectly fine...
not 100% sure it has been broken into, but the door lock we can’t get our key into and dashboard disturbed would indicate some sort of attempt of theft...
Lately in my area there have been a lot of vehicle break in

I can understand the key not entering the barrel, I had a similar issue but that was a result of being unused due to 10 years or so of locking/unlocking remotely. I still don’t use the key but now I make sure it works in the lock once a year just in case.

Anyway if the vehicle suffered a break-in then surely the alarm would sound, assuming the alarm is functioning, also what buttons were pressed? The key fob has only one unlock button “after many pushing of buttons he managed to unlock it”.
Perhaps the fob battery is due for replacing.

Hi Nikki,
+1 for replacing fob battery. Have you also tried your other key?
If the fobs will not mobilize it you need to check the receiver which is under the head lining in front of the rear sun roof. Usually a bad earth. If you need to replace this then it's just "plug & play"
To get it going again in the mean time you'll need to use the key to do the Emergency Key Access (EKA) Instructions for this are in the hand book.
HTH,
Griff
