Hi. Not been on here for a long time. I have changed from a Freelander (1) to a 2001 TD5 110. I have a lot of opportunities with it, but the first question. How do you remove the courtesy light door switches? They are in the A, B pillar etc. Remove a screw and you can pull them but the tag for the wiring is 90 degrees up and I cannot get it out the hole....it looks like you have to pull the crimp off by reaching through an access hole, but if you do that and let go, you will loose the wiring in the bodywork. Is there a tip or a tip to getting them out? they are rusted and need replacing..no interior lights at the moment. Cheers.

Yes the connection is 90 deg to the hole you are removing the switch from but you must compensate by rotating the switch upwards when you are removing it. but if you are saying the switch will not rotate because the wire is restricting its movement it could be that the wire is so old it is set in a shape and if you tug the switch the connection will come apart giving an issue to retrieving it. All I can suggest is by the use of some small longnose pliers whilst holding the switch in one hand and the pliers in another pull the switch as far as you can get the wire with the pliers ( not the connector as it may come off ) and use the minimum of force the straighten the wire free and out of the hole. You may want to put a clip of some sort (a clip larger than the switch hole)on the wire before disconecting the switch because it could just spring back in, not the outcome want.

Good luck

Are you sure the switches not working - Had a similar prob, can be confirmed if the alarm works when you open the doors
The alarm does not go off immediately if you open a door, but sometimes goes off (I think the Ultrasonics trigger it if I forget to switch it off). Need to have a big around with a multimeter!

Got similar issues on a 300tdi. Believe they use same Lucas AS10 alarm/immobiliser? I replaced all door switches and didn't fix the fault. Also have alarm randomly starting.
Read reports thats its dodgy solder points on the AS10 PCB. If good with a solder iron that should fix it or buy new PCB.
Havn't got around to do it yet, thou on the long list of to do's

The copper contacts on the switch might need cleaning and/or you have bad earths due to rust. The switch is earthed to the body via the retaining screw, this might need attention to get a better earth contact.
