Hi all, been a while since I had a moan about one of my Land Rovers... I only have the TD5 Discovery to get greasy under these days.

16 months ago I took my Freelander 2 to the local LR dealer here in the Auvergne as a local, garage had messed up a repair job. After a great deal of faffing around, and paying out €2000 to get legal representation I have finally had confirmation that the job was a botch and shouldn't be allowed on the road: tracking out, wishbone bent, shock absorber bent, belly pan bent, bolts forced in etc. All-in-all an atrocious bit of mechanical work. All verified by two experts with their solicitors so I should finally get a payout, compensation, and all costs back from what has been a marathon event. Parking costs alone come to over €3000

Inevitably the car will probably be 'written off' as it still needs a repair, a complete service having stood so long plus new battery, key fobs etc. Most annoying thing is it had brand spanking new tyres on it which have sat all that time doing nothing. All to waste.

So.... Tip for the day. Always pay the extra on your insurance for legal aid . If I had done I might have waited a few weeks rather than 16months for a result.

...an update

Still ongoing with parking fees alone at €30,000+, yes, you read that correctly. Now going 'full-on' with it going to court. Fortunately the experts have all been in our favour so we should get all our legal fees back along with a hefty payout, FFKS, what a palaver, with us having to fork out €6000+ for legal fees already. The system is rigged for sure, only those able to oay can get some justice.

I always take legal cover, we had a similar situation that took almost 2 years to sort out, the hire car company sent us a bill
for 35 grand  fkn nightmare, when they brought the car back after 7 months they filled it with petrol instead of
derv & abandoned it outside the house when I was at work. Fkn planks (oh it was running bad & cutting out)
but forgot to mention it aye ok.
Ended up getting the full cash price for the car & we got the car back & we got 6 grand at the auction for it. :)

27K Euros for parking in 6 months??

Where were you parking?

Cheers
We have had to leave it at the Land Rover Garage as it is undriveable'- so in their official parkimg area. Charges are €35 per day and it has now been there over two years...with probably another year of legal procedures. We are not responsible for parking fees as the 'expert' has already decided certain legal obligations, however, we have already forked out two lots of €3000+ for legal fees which we will be claiming back.

Total madness as the car isn't worth more than €6000 now, and it will cost €4000+ (Land Rover estimate) to make the car roadworthy again, and that is NOT including the cost to repair the original problem. FFKS, the world has gone mad!
