Hi folks, I've just got myself a 2001 TD4 S 3DR pre-facelift and have seen this soft nudge bar on a local selling group. Neither myself nor the seller are sure which Mk1 version it came from. Can you tell from this pic if it will indeed fit my 2001 pre-facelift TD4? Also, would the fitting of it involve drilling etc.? And finally (for now lol) will it take driving lamps? Thank you in advance :)

You need to cut holes. If it hasn’t got fixing kit it’ll be more trouble than it’s worth. Should take spots. Pre2001 are different to post 2001 facelift so it’s not as straightforward as you’d assume

Thanks. I think I'll give it a wide berth - the headlights are perfectly good anyway and given the mileage of my FL I don't want to invest too much lest it dies on me tomorrow :)

+1 on the brackets being just as important as the bar.

Don't know if you've ever taken the plastic bumper off a Freelander, but underneath it is a metal plate that sort of looks like a traditional bumper. That bar is supported by 2 brackets that bolt to the top of metal bumper and poke through the plastic one. There are also 2 less substantial brackets that poke through holes in the bottom of the plastic bumper (valence) and secured with the undertray bolts.

If you haven't got these brackets, the bumper's not really worth having. There are fitting instructions and pictures.sketches of the bar/brackets in the Accessories section of the Rave workshop manual.
