Hi All.
I'm based near Stroud / Dursley and would like some pointers towards some lanes? I know the lane from Bisely to Edgeworth, and a short, dead end BOAT in Epney. Other than that I know of nothing but I'm sure, from watching bike videos, that there are plenty more in the area!
Can any one give me any pointers?
Tah

I've got quite a few logged on view ranger from a couple of years ago.

If you convince me you're not a mud plugging eejit I could pass you some routes.....or even better give me a couple of weeks to get the Landy back on the road and I'll show you.

That would be ideal. I'm a series guy, old school sheep farmer and an engineer, not some track suit mong in a knackered disco :) I was just looking for some where to go on my off day ramblings, but a trip over new year when I'm back from uni would be very welcome!

If you want to pop over to Nailsworth at any point I'll pour over some maps with you.

If I'm not on the road by new year please come and put me out of my misery :D

That would be real helpful thanks! I'm back off up to uni tomorrow (98 miles, in a series, on knobblies, in the rain :D) I should be back at home in a month or so to put the tups out with the ewes and get some more bales down the yard for my mum so I could give you a shout then?

Hi, are you still about in Nailsworth, I'm looking for advice on where to go too.

Cheers
Selena

I've not been out for ages and the routes I know locally will need rechecking with the council definitive map or GLASS rep ( not sure who that is now, the last I spoke to them it was a poor chap trying to keep up to date on 3 counties but was very helpful).
I'm happy to meet up and point them out on a map for checking so long as I'm reassured you're a sensible and considerate type.

Hi

I'm not a member of GLASS, I was brought up on Landys, learnt to drive in an 109 series 3 pick up, then drove them in the Army. Bought my first in 2003 out of the RAF but only used her for towing. Did her up last year for touring Scotland this summer and taking my son camping as we'd been using a bell tent up until then. Acquired a 88 series 3 during the refurb which will be next years project.

I said I'd organise a little run out for the LR Ladies club, beginning and ending at a pub for February when everyone is fed up of the winter. I know we have several green lanes locally, I use the one from Barton End to Avening to do the school run after doing the horse! I was hoping to find a few more to make a loop, or a more Cirencester-way one, we are very respectful ladies who you will see on their stand at the Land Rover shows.

I'll look up GLASS and join, thanks

The last run out I did with a group we started at Barton End (Tetbury Lane to be exact) There's some nice lanes that can take you in a rough circle NW of Ciren looping back down to Stroud but as I said some will need rechecking as it's been a few years.

Nothing too challenging so long as you don't mind a bramble and blackthorn polish.

I'm in Stroud these days but I'm happy if you want to send me a PM and I'll nip over to the Village, the Brit or the Hog one evening to pour over some maps.

Just a thought. Was the Barton End lane reclassified under NERC some years back? And the same for the Bisley to Eastcombe lane? There’s the Fosseway too, at least the sections that aren’t subject to a TRO. There’s virtually none in the Stroud area that I’m aware of. There’s one a bit further away in shurdington, not much else unless you want a drive. Salisbury Plain is an hour away and worth the drive though.

I’m happy for a meet up at a pub to discuss!:)

As said my info is out of date but there is (was) 4 or 5 hours laning within a 10 mile radius. Mostly UCRs rather than BOATs.

I never bothered much with the Fosseway because frankly it's a bit dull.

Salisbury is good if you don't mind the chalk eating yer Landy

There’s an article in the February issue of LRO with a few lanes in Gloucestershire. Two are very short but in the Stroud area. I thought they’d been reclassified but maybe not. One of those who went on the trip was the local GLASS rep so it should be correct.
