Freelander key problem new member

Hi I have a 2007 freelander key problem the key is fine and I have changed the battery but the key machanism is still not releasing the key, the machanism slot takes the key in and out but the clips won't release it so I am having to wiggle it and force pull it out, would I need to change the whole box mechanism? And then reprogramme the key to the new one? Sounds expensive please help and be gentle as I'm new

Yes it does

I am no expert on this so best to see if someone else has more info.
Sounds like just the mechanical side of the dock. Have you had a good look inside to make sure nothing has got lodged inside? (small children love that)
I imagine the key code is programmed into the ecu so changing the dock should not change that but as I say I am no expert. Good luck and let us know how you go on.

Thank you, yes apparently we don't need to programme the key, I have ordered the Dock and going to change it and see how that goes
