Freelander 1 Bought a G4 ish.

Actually a promotion vehicle. Very clean. Picture too big to load will try to reduce.

It has had: new clutch, belt, head gasket, VCU and sunroof assembly.

What spec is it? It's got HSE wheels, but it's too old to be an HSE, I think.

It's a Kalahari. Leather seats with black velvety stuff. Boot box has a 'secret' compartment that goes up with the lid.. Audio kit??
Shame about the power plant being a 1.8 but we'll see about that!
Just want the rack and ladder now! Rack on flea at the mo but £500!!

I think Tangiers is a marmite car. I love it!

Leather and Alcantara, same as the facelift SE.
The 1.8 is a nippy power unit, especially compared to the sluggish TD4.
The secret compartment is the subwoofer.

The proper G4 rack is a peach, but the price they go for is ridiculous.
I like Tangiers myself.

Also I like Tangiers, I would do though as I have a Tambora Flame

I Tambora too. I've looked at a couple of Tambora FL2s, sadly they weren't good enough to buy, so walked away.

Yes. If you swap to the V6, then I'd drop the whole front sub-frame, with everything attached. It'll save loads of time and messing about with IRDs and stuff. Also worth doing the timing belts when the engine is on the floor. I can talk you through that, if you like. You'll need the V6 front bumper cover, and the crash bar spacers behind it.

The wheels look correct, as does the interior. The roof rails are short though, and there's no roof rack. The rack in that LR document isn't as nice as the later contoured roof rack.

I'll run it as it is for a while. Trouble is I have 2 potential V6 donors but they have ended up being too good to be stripped and scrapped. One is now mint underneath and the other is perfect save for a thermostat leak !

I need one that has been rear ended, else I'll just get another and end up fixing that as well !

WANTED LOW MILEAGE V6 WITH IRREPARABLE REAR END DAMAGE !!

I'd not pay £750 for that rack. It looks too much like a standard rack, for far to much money. The later contoured rack is so much nicer, very low profile and much larger too. Here's some pictures of the later G4 rack. This is the one I'd buy, if I could find one.

The ladders though (any ladder on Freelander) are damm stoopid.

It is. I missed out on an FL1 that was up for sale that had one fitted. It was up for £2.5K and I wasn't sure the car was worth it, so I said I'd think about it. Unfortunately the next person to look at the car bought it, so I missed out. This was 3 years ago, and I've never seen one for sale since.

I guess it's to help with getting that rack leaded up with clobber. I don't think the ladder looks good, but it's a good practical accessory instead.

I've seen (in pics) a few 'home made' racks that are done really well. Follow the contours etc.

The only practical use for a ladder on Freelander is for kids to climb up I recon - that and them falling off them as well

I think Muddy Mods do the G4 ladder, but not, to the best of my knowledge, the G4 roof rack.

Yes, it is a 1.8k though. Well it is at the moment!!
HG and belt done so may last.
M mods ladder is to order. I think an A bar with a V6 front bumper to start with would set it off. Plus black plastic dyed with my fav brand!! You must get some! Roof rack looks good but will add noise. Ladder looks daft without roof rack!!

Pick it up on the 18th Dec in time for Xmas!
