I have to replace the four tyres on my 5 door Automatic TD4 so I thought I would replace them with Wnter Tyres, Which tyres would you recommend and what size? 215 or 225.
I really want a good chunky looking but not a knobbly tyre because I rarely go Off Road.

I think Halfords had winter Firestones on offer recently. But you can't do much better than fit a set of Yokohama AT 015 tyres. The freelander doesn't need winter tyres, so a good AT will get the job done. The standard 16" wheel has a 215/65 tyre, but you can fit a 215/70/16 tyre on without an issue.

Just bought 5 GO15 for my 17 inch Vortex rims. After searching Kwik Fit was best price and have a further 10% off for more than 2. Worked out at £83 each mobile fitted. However, I bought 5 of the 17 inch and they only had 7 in the country!!

I too have Yoko Geolandars (GO15), and they've been great all year - summer and winter, and particularly good in snow - so I'd agree, no real need for winter tyres, they're not particularly noisy, wear well and look the part too. A win, win, win :)

Not sure what wheels you have on yours, but I just used the standard tyre dimensions. Kinda wished that I'd gone for taller (more ground clearance, better motorway gearing), but as I have the 1.8K, I didn't want to loose too much of that gearing as I don't have as much torque as the diesel cars.

Thanks all. I"ve got the standard Alloys and yes I would prefer a bit more ground ground clearance, not that I go off road very often.
After spending many years driving trucks I prefer a higher driving position..

You can fit a 70% profile instead of a 65%, which will add 1/2" of hight.

Black Circles have some Black Friday offers on premium tyres today, saving between 10 and 20% off the cost. ;)

Have a look at the Event ML698+. Available in 215/70/16.
They are a BFGoodrich pattern clone, so a good, chunky AT tyre. I fitted a full set to my FL2 a few weeks ago and am quite happy with them so far.
