Power Stearing + Hole = ?

Heya,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Freelander 1 I'm hoping you could help me with.

If I go over a big enough pot hole, whether it be a slow or moderatre speed the power stearing seems to stop working as the wheel becomes very heavy, as if it isnt there. After a few seconds it kicks back in again. It's also happened when I bumped a wheel up a curb to pass someone, it's as if it just turns off.

What should I be looking for? Low fluid? Loose belt? New Pump?

Fluid or else its something really ****e that land rover should be brought to task over.

What engine?
Is the fluid the correct level?
Has the fluid ever been replaced?
Check the PS belt tension and condition.

2.0L Perkins Diesel
No idea yet, I've never changed it and haven't had a chance to look.
