P38A How to replace rear discs and pads?

Hi all, I ‘lost’ a brake pad from the rear drivers side yesterday and now i need to replace the rear discs and pads.

I expect screws and bolts to be rusted on so I don’t think this is going to be straight forward.

I also get an ABS warning and Traction control warning on the dash. While i’m replacing discs could i also be checking/replacing sensors?

Anyone here got experience of doing this and can advise what parts other than discs and pads i should have to hand before I start?

it’s a 2000 2.5D.

Get new caliper slide pins and bolts and replace them.

Often its not the caliper that has siezed but the slide pin corroded in.

Clear out the old slider pin hoe with i think a 5mm hss drill bit.. *turned by hand*

Its a simple job.

Britpart calipers from Island 4 x 4 are good in my experience and not expensive. It's an easy job apart from bleeding which must be done according to the procedure in RAVE.
My new discs came from another maker but also from Island.
ABS & Traction control if staying on need diagnostics. Could be a sensor, a wheel bearing or a broken sensor ring or something else.

I checked the technical archive before creating this thread. Now, I am not the most observant of people, but I was looking really hard for anything related to replacing brake discs/pads and I could not find anything - but I would be very happy if any one knows of it to be directed to it.

Think that's the one, recognize the bracelet, cannot open the video for some reason, from memory you did edit the slider pin refit from using copperslip on the threads to using loctight.

Replacing discs and pads is a piece of piss, if advice is needed how to do it leave it to someone who knows what they are doing. Allowing a pad to wear so far down as to allow the pad plate to slide out is criminal.

13mm Bi-Hex socket "12 point"
Large Pozi screwdriver for the disk retaining screw
A 10lb BFH.
An S Hook to hang the caliper of a bungee cord.

Copaslip is herpes.

Use the proper Mintex lube.

New pads disk etc etc

wire brush..

my Pads fell out on the way home from the seller!!

Ruined my Rear Calipers. £20 a side for new calipers off of paddocks.

No, the coppaslip incident was on the L322....I cleaned it offafter your comments....this is for the P38 where I didn't slip the pins!

It is quick and simple. The screw that holds the disc might be solud and need knocking round with a punch.
