hi all

I’ve just made a new loom for my headlights using relays etc, same as probably most diy looms. When I’ve got it all done and checked/measured agains original there is no visible difference in brightness and I’ve only gained .08v. I was expecting a bit more really, so what I’m wondering is, are late discos (98MY) wired better so they don’t get as much volt drop or something along those lines

Thanks as usual

Thanks, just walked in with some ha. Even tho on the way out of the auto electricians he said they might not last because they tend to not like potholes so he was a bit unsure about off-roading. Either way one of my main beams is dodgy so needed bulbs anyway

Thanks

300Tdi had better looms and switches from standard, didn't stop them melting if there was dodgy contact at the lamp end but they were a marked improvement.

I relayed my 200Tdi and the difference was night and day.

What ever the voltage is at the battery should be found at the head lamp bulb, as it’s always done, I can only go back as far as my 1987 RR and it was just the same then.

Thanks for replies

Well night breakers do look whiter but I can’t see any further or better really apart from just over the bonnet where you only look when creeping about, I’m still happy enough their in there tho.

Just a thought and possibly a big one, at the mo I’m still on standard earths just because I haven’t put mine in yet and I was debating on going direct back to the battery rather than the nearest good looking earth point. I’ve still got .27v drop at the mo through the new wires as well

Before I started down this road I did think I had pretty good lights all things considered tho so I’m not really sure what I’m expecting apart from hopefully more reliable wiring

Thanks

Towsey
