I had been considering replacing cracked 110 windscreen myself. Insurance excess £250. Autoglass quote was about £210 for glass and replacement rubber fitted so I had to pay the full amount.

I decided on Autoglass. I got an appointment within a couple of days. Their fitter got the screen in within about half an hour. String pulled round and all looking good. At the last minute the new glass cracked in the corner.
New appointment with different fitter next day. I think he re-used the seal from the day before.
All done in about an hour and looking good.

Both fitters said that the new seal takes a little while to sort itself out. If doing the job yourself it could be a good plan to fit the seal to the screen and leave it to settle for as long as practical up to a day or so.

Second fitter asked for some washing up liquid. He said fitter 1 didn't believe in using it.

Overall service from Autoglass very good. Pleased I didn't try to do it myself.

Took my newly painted frame to National Windscreens Bolton, New green tint glass and new rubber fitted £140 all in...

Took mine to guy who works from home but also travels to you. He reused the rubber. Charged £70 and took him literally 15mins. Amazing watching him do it. He fits second hand LR windscreens for £20.
