Have to sell the 90 and been offered 2250
It has problems and I don't want to be spending time and money fixing it, bad weather coming on and it's too cold.
I think it needs a head gasket and general tidying up especially the interior.
It's a 1990 with 200tdi, R380 box (both Discovery) and a galv chassis
Done a couple of hundred miles since mot last January

Am I giving it away or is the price about right, opinions please before I sell.
thanks for any imput.

Pictures are from a few years ago but should give you some idea what it's like, I'll take some of how it is now tomorrow and try and video the engine problem.
Missfire on front cylinder when cold and blue smoke, runs fine when warm with no smoke whatsoever, fuel getting to the cylinder, swapped injector over to eliminate and checked tappets, thinking head gasket.

I remember this a couple of years back you painted virtually everything blue.
Check your bottom crankshaft pulley ive had one wear either side of woodruff key so efectively advanced the timing when reved..
Look forward to video ...

Not pulley
I sold it last February and the guy brought it back after two weeks saying his wife didn't like it and would I buy it back, obviously it was warm when I picked it up and running sweet as it always did but next day it was missing when cold. I think he ragged the arse of it judging by his comments that it wasn't very fast and didn't corner very well, that's my theory anyway.
I was going to fit new cambelt and head gasket but time has overtaken me so it's going as it is. Engine healthy otherwise.
Edit... head was reconditioned this time last year and has done a few hundred miles only

Seatbox is fine, been repaired but sound except for alteration for disco gear lever position, tunnel has been altered to accommodate gearshift changes also.
There are parts included to make box into a Defender one, top off defender box and a part to change it over, easyish job if you like to tinker.
Dash needs work at offside, that's why it's cheap.
Galv chassis close to 2k and it has disc brakes all round and new A frame bushes etc etc etc.

Sounds like you are giving it away.
Specially with the galv chassis.

Yeah its got to be worth more on a galv chassis.
I did a full engine build for less than 750. Add a few other bits and pieces to that and whats the worste case scenario? maybe 1500?
Then its got to be worth a min of 4500 so 3000 is a more realistic starting point.
However, I bet its really worth closer to 4000. They dont take much to fix unless stripped and then built badly.

I dont know how you can suggest a figure of 4k without seeing or know anything of the vehicle:confused:
Because it's a Defender. If it can pass an MOT, has a sound chassis and Bulkhead, it is worth that much. A chassis is £2.5k, a bulkhead is £1500. A Disco 200tdi engine is £500. Theres £4500 worth of value if you decided to break and sell for parts. Add in the other good conditioned items, and even selling those parts second hand on Ebay, you've got upwards of £5k.

Do not let it go for that price. If there’s a few engine issues someone will just transplant in a second hand engine and you’ve got a 5.5k car plus. Can you swap the engine yourself? Not a hard job and then you’d have a vehicle worth good money.

I think it was worth 3500 in running order in the condition it's in. Give it a paint job then maybe 4k, unless they've gone up a lot recently.

What's up with the dash?
