Hi
Looking to have some 6/1/2 inch steel rims blasted and powder coated . Anyone had it done . What sort of price did you pay ? Thanks

Been quoted £60 each (blasting and powder coating) from a place in Stockton-on-Tees. Haven't had the wheels done yet but he did the front brake back plates and they have stayed rust free. He has a reputation for doing a good job so you may find cheaper from elsewhere.

They will want them without the tyres so taking them off and putting them back on has to be added to the cost.

I paid £60 each for alloys a couple of years ago. Would not do it again as the powder coating is easily damaged and gets scuffed when the tyres are changed. Now looking quite scruffy. For steel wheels I clean and enamel with the tyres on.

Agree. Cost near me in Buckinghamshire is £55 but with some time and effort it is possible to get a good long lasting finish by hand. All depends on how many layers of paint your wheels have already.

As said, powder coating is not especially durable … enamel was the factory's choice in the first place.
Had the alloys on my RRC done last year, look great :)

DIY it with a cup brush on the angle grinder and some red oxide and machine enamel. I have done both of mine this way and they have not rusted yet. Powder coating soon scratched and chips if you use the land rover for land rover things, and paint can at least be touched up.

Thanks all. Got them blasted and primed at interkey in corby. 80 pound the lot!
