Does anyone have access to a clear wiring pin diagram for the Red connector (CO158) for a 1999 Defender TD5 (10p) that shows function or designation of each pin rather than just colour?

The only one I can find in RAVE lists the colours at each pin, but not the function or designation.
This would be fine except that I need to connect a new screened wire from the ECU to the CKP and cannot find anything that makes it clear which ECU pins need to be replaced. The wire colours are listed as KB and WU, but there are three pins listed on the connector as KB.

I have not yet examined the socket itself as my son has aftermarket seats that are a right PITA to remove in order to gain access to the ECU and I am waiting until it stops raining. It may be obvious once I pull the socket off as there should only be one KB associated with the WU wire, but it would be confidence inspiring to know that I was connecting it correctly.

Also does anyone know if the screening in the cable needs to be earthed at the ECU?

I presume that you have the connector view from RAVE - electrical library, so if you try such job you should corroborate the diagram with the pinout cos then it becomes clear where each wire of the CKP should connect, as you can see on the diagram below(i cropped it) the KB goes to 13, WU to 36 and the screen to 16

also you can find the description of the functions of each wire in the workshop manual - engine management's description where there's a table with all the pins of both connectors and what they do

Thanks SF. Tom1979 was kind enough to PM me the same information.
Ironically I already had the data I needed from the diagram above in RAVE; I just had not noticed that the pin numbers were written in small print where they connect.

One final question, the diagram implies that the KB line goes into the RH terminal socket of the CKP, my memory (old socket now removed) is that the white WU line went into the RH socket. Can you confirm which is correct? I am assuming the socket is viewed from above (click connector uppermost) with the female end facing away.

I dont understand the question. It should be clear enough in the connector view, al the connectors in RAVE are shown from connection side as you look inside it

Depends which way up the connector is. Is the side with the moveable securing lugs, ie. where your thumb presses, assumed to be the top?

I dont think that it can be confused in the connector view though cos the top is not the same with the bottom and it has a guiding slot too at the middle bottom side, just watch it carefully

I agree the socket is asymmetric and cannot be fitted onto the the CKP the wrong way, but unless I know which side of the socket the RAVE diagram assumes is the top there is a 50% chance that I will wire it the wrong way round. Perhaps as it is a simple magnetic probe it does not matter?

I really dont understand your dillema cos for me is crystal clear, it's shown in the diagram that the KB wire goes to C0168 -1 which means to pin 1 and it's obvious from the connector view whics is pin 1, what's so hard in this  ...

i hope now it's clear
