Thanks, I have been looking on eBay but nothing yet. I should have clarified that this is what I'm looking for...

Yes I guessed that, but lr have had a rethink due to issues with heavy towing causing damage to the ball socket in the chassis and say for heavy work you need one of their fixed towbars which also locate into the chassis socket but also have two arms that go back to the chassis rails like older models.
The ones pictured are also very easily stolen as the locks are rubbish, they will nick your tow ball then come back later for the spare wheel!

You can make a bracket to stop the towball dropping out and it also stops it being stolen, there are also spare wheel protectors available.

Very helpful, thank you. I didn't realise there were issues with this unit. My towing will be only occasional and pretty light like hauling brush to the dump and stuff. So I think the unit above will work for my application. We don't have much theft here in Switzerland so I'm probably going to be ok in that department too.

If your vehicle has never had the towbar fitted, the removable one will be just fine, it was prolonged heavy towing that caused wear in the socket in the crossmember .
