Hey have seen a few posts on this subject but not been a massive help.

I have d2 td5 manual 2001 reg

Was wondering what people are doing with there ecu in the d2 are you moving it or keeping it were it is?

If moving were to also where do i get the extension loom as read a few things about defender and disco looms been diffrent also something to do with can line not sure of that applys to manual

Are you sealing boxes under bonnet if not moving ecu?

Any help massively appriciated

So what’s the reason u wish to reposition the ECU, they are already “proofed” by LR from the normal hazards within the engine bay.
If u wish to relocate the ECU to another part of the vehicle then the is a company that’s been mentioned before in forums that will provide a bespoke loom, which will enable u to place the ECU where ever u wish.

Don’t ask me for info on the company, but someone may/will have it. I never take to much notice on things that will never concern me :D

You can get looms to reposition your ECU, there was an issue with Auto ECU vs Manual ECU cable extensions. People were buying them and they did not work for Autos.

if you are planning on playing in very ddep water then I would suggest moving it, amongst doing other things to protect the vehicle for wading.
If you do a search on here you may find the supplier, they were on the bay, but google should give you an answer.

Cheers

I think it is better placed in the Disco than in the Defender and it is less likely to get oil in the loom... But nothing stops you buying some cable and just extending it say close to the ECU end . Use some decent air industry grade connectors

I here lots about people killing ecu due to going through deep water so would rather get that risk out the way first than have to pay for a new ecu and a loom extension
