Good evening
I am now the proud owner off a 1995 3 door manual discovery 1.
I have never had a landrover before but always really fancied one, so bit i the bullet and bought this for £2000. I don't know if that's a good price, I just really liked it. It's done 96k miles and the chassis is in very good condition.

Bad point's
A small area of rust in the rear passenger side arch.
Inner wings are a little bit tatty under the bonnet where they meet the bulkhead.
Boot catches on the rear bumper and needs to be lifted to shut properly.
Since getting it home I've give it a good clean. Previous to this I had a 03 suzuki jimny

Very nice.

I have a 3 door Discovery also, a 200Tdi from 1992.

Your back door catching the bumper will be your needing new door hinges, easy job if you have two people, little more difficult but not impossible on your own.

If you have any rot then get it cut out and weld new new steel in as fast as possible.

Be warned, what you see now is nothing compared to what is lurking underneath!!!

I recommend a full waxoyling from top to bottom and done annually.

Petrol or diesel?

Diesel. I know the pain iv had a classic mini before starting to poke a small hole soon ends up a chasm haha.

I have a 3 door disco in my fleet what's the plans for yours bud ;)
I will be using it as a second car and to cart my fishing stuff around. I want to get it back to a good standard and eventually add a few light off road mods. I might do a few pay and play days but stick to the mild trails. I don't have the technical knowledge to be breaking mechanical parts haha . I'm a welder by trade.

In the first post i said i had a small area of rust in the rear arch. That turned into replacing most of the rear quarters and patching in the floor. I have also replaced the sills with box section. Im going to spray the interior when I get a nice day with upol gravitex. This will give a durable finish as well as having sound deadening properties.

You can speak to your phone and it comes out as text nowadays. Its been a god send for all the welders ;)

Its a big change from proper structural welding when everything has to be prefect. Sometimes the welds are inspected for cracks and defects using MPI, dye pen, Xray or ultrasonic.

I would take that, over welding cars any day ! Nice clean thick steel.
"I like big butt's and I can not lie"

I Honestly think it would be quicker to learn to weld cars if you have no preconceived experience
from welding anything else. When you go from really thick steel to thin dirty stuff its hard not to blow holes haha
