R380 300tdi. Push rod and clip came out when taking off the slave.

Tried the tricks online- pipe over rod to push on, but I cannot get it in. Tried for 4 hours, broke two clips, only one left!

Any other tips? Or if I cut a hole in the body to access, where and how big? And with what? I don’t have a plasma cutter

I left mine off.

Not needed then?
The clip just holds the rod in place for assembly. Once the slave is bolted in the rod is held firmly in place by the pressure from the clutch spring. Can you feel the ball on the end of the push rod locating in the hollow of the fork? Could you use some grease/copper slip/small lump of Pritt stick to hold it in place while you carefully slide the slave cylinder over it?
Make sure you replace the slave cylinder with the bleed nipple at the top.

MMm, not really useful? or are you being funny?

Cheers
On just about any clutch that came out in the garage in the last 4 years the clip was missing. Most garages here aren't even aware the clip exists.if you have the thin original TDI fork, you might want to put a plastic cap on the rod to avoid fork problems

How will a cap avoid fork problems?

And the OP is asking about the clip not a cap?

Cheers

Worn rods tend to drill holes in the fork. But my point is, it works without the clip if you don't want to drop the gearbox for that ;)
